Dear NCCVT Families and Staff,
Out of respect for the fallen hero who was killed in the line of duty, and in coordination with regional partners, all NCCVT school and offices will operate remotely on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Corporal Snook's funeral is expected to create significant traffic congestion and systemwide transportation delays throughout the morning and afternoon. While none of our schools are identified as primary impact sites, the scale of the event and its timing align directly with our arrival, dismissal, and bus routes across the county.
Our decision is guided by three priorities:
• Student and staff safety
• Transportation reliability
• Operational consistency across our countywide district
Asynchronous remote learning allows us to maintain instructional continuity while reducing unnecessary risks, delays, and disruption for families and staff.
What families should know:
- Students should refer to assignments posted by their teachers on Schoology.
- Teachers will share any additional expectations directly with students and will be available throughout the day to provide assistance or answer questions.
- Support services will be available remotely as appropriate.
- Coaches will communicate with student-athletes directly regarding practices Monday afternoon.
We appreciate your flexibility and partnership as we honor the significance of this occasion while ensuring the safety and well-being of our school community. We are keeping Corporal Snook and his loved ones in our thoughts during this most difficult time.
