How to Apply for 9th Grade
Current 8th graders apply through Delaware School Choice. Applications are not first-come, first-served: every application submitted by the deadline gets equal consideration.
STEP 1
Confirm registration
Your student must be enrolled in a Delaware public or charter school. Private, homeschooled and new-to-Delaware students first pre-register with their home district.
STEP 2
Gather documents
7th grade final report card, 8th grade first marking period report card, and discipline records for 2025–26 and 2026–27 (or a completed Student Data Sheet), saved as PDF or JPG.
STEP 3
Apply through School Choice
Create a parent account at SchoolChoiceDE.org, enter your student’s name and birth date exactly as on school records, and submit one application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply to Delcastle?
Current 8th graders entering 9th grade. Students applying for 10th grade use a separate transfer application. Admissions preference may apply to students living in the Appoquinimink, Brandywine, Colonial or Red Clay school districts.
Is admission first-come, first-served?
No. Every complete application submitted by Jan. 13, 2027 receives equal consideration, so there’s no need to apply on the first day.
Can Delcastle students go to college?
Absolutely. Students can earn college credit through dual enrollment, and Delcastle students have earned $1.4 million in scholarships and grants. Many graduates go on to college, apprenticeships, the military or straight into their field.
Does Delcastle have sports and clubs?
Yes. Delcastle has a full athletics program and over 50 clubs, honor societies, leadership organizations and performing arts groups.
When will we find out?
Admissions decisions are emailed by Feb. 26, 2027. Families must accept and register by Mar. 19, 2027. Check your spam folder, since all communication goes to the parent email on the application.
