Delcastle Technical High is committed to providing its students with an education that not only focuses on academic achievement but also on the development of essential life skills. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is an integral part of our curriculum, and the significance of SEL is emphasized throughout the year, with National SEL Day being a highlight.
National SEL Day, which is observed on Friday, March 10th, is a day dedicated to promoting the importance of SEL in schools and communities. SEL focuses on building students' skills in five areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. These skills enable students to become more empathetic, responsible, and productive members of society, and contribute to their personal and academic success.
At Delcastle, SEL is not just a one-day affair. To celebrate National SEL Day, Mr. Mark Wells, our District SEL Coach, has organized an SEL Spirit Week, from March 6th to March 10th, 2023. The Spirit Week aims to reinforce the importance of SEL by integrating it into fun and engaging activities that students can participate in.
